The state/the condition of the cities along the Amazon, the degree of neglect and abandonment, speak for themselves: it is the mentality of extraction in its latest, most contemporary manifestation. The mentality of sucking, bleeding, taking –giving the minimum necessary or less than that in return: no reciprocity, no exchange, no investment in the land, unless investment relates to extraction of raw materials and their displacement.
